You’ve got questions about Moon Mama Postpartum underwear; we’ve got answers!
in this post we’re answering The two most commonly asked questions about our postpartum underwear…and one for a bit of fun!
Q: Are they reusable?
A: Yes! Moon Mama postpartum mesh underwear are reusable.
In the world of postpartum mesh underwear these babies got your back. They’re "here for a good time, not a long time.” (Thank you Trooper for a great song!)
These Mama’s sure as heck do the job in your first few weeks postpartum. If you treat them right, they will be good to you.
Made of a polyester spandex knit they stretch and shape to your body. You can wear them pregnant at week 38 and postpartum at week 12. They are that stretchy without losing shape.
My best advice is: don’t put them in the wash with your kids Velcro! Oh, and wear wingless pads! These babies will be good to go for your second or third postpartum recovery.
As you may already know I passed mine along to my sister-in-law. We both used them up to a year postpartum. She may still be wearing them - I will have to ask!
And all those Mama’s that have had a c-section. Get your c-section bellies in here! YOU deserve to feel comfortable. You just had a major surgery. Let's not forget that!
Q: How does your sizing work?
A: We have two sizes.
32”- 42” waist, is similar to L - XL, I wore this size during my c-section recovery. I’m 5’3” and before my twins arrived I weighed 170 LB. This size fits most. They are very stretchy!
42” - 52” waist, is similar to 2XL - 3XL. If you aren’t sure about what size to get and feel like you might need a little more room, then go with the 42” - 52” waist. I want you to not even have to think about sizing when you're living your postpartum life! Comfort is key.
Q: Why the shibori dye technique?
A: When thinking of starting Moon Mama, my goal was to make beautiful mesh underwear for that really shitty time after giving birth.
You just feel so out of sorts. I remember sitting on the toilet looking at my beloved mesh underwear and thinking why do they have to look so ugly and show all the blood stains? And that’s when it hit me!
Why not create beautiful patterns by folding them in such a way that they make flowers or interesting stripe patterns?! I played around with just tie-dying but loved how shibori folding gave purpose to the dye.
I love knowing that I’m making a person smile who is in postpartum. They are beautiful days but also hard ones too.

Lexie
